Elinor's Secret Diary
Winter Celebrations
Winter Walks
It was cold outside today, damp and grey but it felt nice to be in the light unlike being in that gloomy castle. Mother always encouraged me to stretch my legs in the fresh air to get away from the plague. There are many quiet paths to explore around here, I'm glad I've got Shakes to keep me company.
Winter Home Decorations
Shakes and I have been collecting anything green and interesting. We found box, yew, bay and even some holly and ivy. I'm going to make something pleasing to look out and to celebrate the coming winter. If Shakes can stop chewing all of my treasures that is! Hopefully, it'll make the dark castle feel more like home.
An Elizabethan Hallowmass
They say a black cat who crosses your path is bad luck. Shakes has been good luck to me. He’s kept the plague rats away from me so far. I’m glad he’s here. He’ll keep away the ghosts in the castle too! I don’t like feeling scared. With All-Hallows nearly upon us, I’ll need Shakes to stop me feeling afraid. The nights grow darker now and the cold starts to creep in. People will walk around with masks on to ward away evil but they look evil themselves! Thankfully warding off witchcraft involves lighting a glorious fire which we love. Shakes always purs in the warmth on my knee.
