One of the only great Elizabethan houses built by a woman, Hardwick Hall is a stunning architectural masterpiece with a fun and interesting history. An example of ‘prodigy house’ Elizabethan architecture, Longleat is one of the most visited Elizabethan houses in the UK. Elizabeth I visited herself in 1547, followed four hundred years later by a visit by Elizabeth II in 1980.
