Customise your trainers!
Maya has loads of trainers - she goes with Nisha to dig around local charity shops to find vintage style trainers she can customise.
You can try it, too - here are a few ideas to get you started.
Sharpie style
If you have a white pair of trainers, make sure they are as clean (and dry) as you can manage. Take some sharpies, the more colourful the better, and create your pattern first on paper and then recreate on the trainers. If you want to waterproof them, it's easy - just take a candle or tea light, rub it all carefully all over your trainers, and then use your hair dryer to set the wax. Leave for 5 minutes before you put your shoes on.
Sparkles more your thing?
If something a bit more sparkly is your thing, here's an easy to way customise your trainers. Go to your local craft store and pick out sparkly beads that have a flat bottom. Get some strong glue that bonds gemstones to fabric ( we found something called Gem-Tac at our store ) and plan your pattern. Make sure you cover the surface you're working on with old newspaper or an old towel. Once you've got your pattern planned, then start gluing, making sure to let the beads or gemstones dry thoroughly. And voila' - a pair of new-look trainers !
