Behind the scenes with Frances: Helena Your Regency Girl™
We’re really excited to announce that a new doll has joined the Your Historical Girl collection!
Come behind the scenes with our founder Frances to discuss all things Helena, Your Regency Girl.
Introducing Helena…
Our gorgeous new doll Helena is from the Regency era, formally recognised as the decade from from 1811- 1820, but some historians place it during 1795 to 1837.
Why choose the Regency era?
Our best ideas often come from our community and Helena is no exception! As well as being a fascinating period of English history, creating a Regency era doll was also by far the most requested period by our customers.
What’s Helena like?
It’s so important to us that our dolls each have their own unique personality so you can properly get to know them. Helena is certainly a fiery character or at least not your typical regency girl, fed up with endless dancing at balls and the social scene.
She would much rather be playing with her cousins, going on adventures and getting into scrapes than sitting nicely at tea parties or learning how to dance properly for her coming out party. How boring that she has to be ‘lady-like’ all the time!
Helena is part of the ‘Ton’, which is part of the upper echelons of English society at the time and is actually short for ‘le bon ton’ which means ‘good manners’ or ‘good form’. Like many of the Ton during the Regency period Helena has elaborate curls and is wearing a straight skirt dress with a scoop neckline.
How do I get my very own Helena?
Why pre-order?
Lots of things have changed over the pandemic, but we have managed to not only stay open, but restock sold out items and launch new products.
This is all thanks to our lovely community of customers who have supported out pre-sale system which means we already know how much we need to order from our factory in advance. It means we can spend money on developing new products and restocking sold out items rather than spending capital on excess warehousing or holding onto old stock!
By offering pre-orders we’ve also been able reduce our carbon footprint.
