How you can celebrate World Doll Day
Saturday 12th June marks the 35th World Doll Day!
The tradition was started in 1986 by a lady called Mildred Seeley to celebrate the wonderful gift of doll play and collecting.
Here are some ideas on how you can celebrate World Doll Day:
1. Get to know your doll's story
All of our A Girl For All Time dolls have a unique personality- why not get to know more about yours by exploring our secret diary entries.
Two of my favourites are Nisha, Your Modern Girl and Matilda, Your Tudor Girl. Take a sneak peek into their diaries to discover what happened when they visited the same historic part of London, five hundred years apart.
To get to know your doll better, check out our website's 'secret diaries' tab.
2. Learn about your favourite Historical doll's era
Encouraging others to learn about the wonders of history is so important to us. We love helping people find new pockets of history through our Marchmont family tree.
Why not use this World Doll Day to brush up on your historical knowledge?
If you loved our newest doll, Helena, Your Regency Girl, have a go at our 'who would you be in Regency England' quiz. Would you be a peasant, a member of the 'Ton' or King George IV himself?
You can also check out our ultimate online learning guide for more resources.
Alternatively, check out the 'Learn' tab on our website for more historical activities.
3. Learn more about us
You've been keeping us going for eight years now. As a small business, we love to keep our community at the centre of everything we do. So why not take this opportunity to get to know us better?
Do you know how our dolls get from Frances' imagination to your home? You can find out here.
4. Send in your photos
It's a joy to see photos of you and your family enjoying our dolls. Send us a picture of your collection, and let us know how you're getting on.
Connect with us on Instagram, Facebook or email us at info@agirlforalltime.com to tell us about (or even better, show us) your World Doll Day celebrations.
5. Make your (or someone else's) doll a new costume
You can add to your favourite doll's wardrobe with some homemade costumes.
We love this colourful pom-pom headband on Nisha, Your Modern Girl. Follow this easy tutorial to make it at home. Doesn't Nisha look great!
All our costumes are mix-n-match, so check out our collection for gorgeous historical dress-up, and jazzy vintage 'fits.
