So, my homework this week is to write a short essay about something I think is meaningful. I think I’ll chose my comic books...

I’m building up a collection of Marvel comics. So far, I have around twenty which I think is pretty impressive. Some of my friends only have one or two, while others have way more than I do. If I’m honest , I don’t think it’s how many you have, I think it’s how valuable they are to you that counts.

Some people think it’s ‘uncool’ that I like them, but really I think the opposite. Comics are so much more than just stories. Personally, I love the artwork. When I’m older I think that I want to become an illustrator. I mean… everyone wants to be something cool when they grow up, don’t they?

I’ve practiced making my own designs which are surprisingly good! My favourite character I've created so far is a really smart doctor called ‘Mr. Maxwell’ which I’ve secretly based on myself. He’s good at all the sciences (especially chemistry!) but he's also an artist. I’m trying to make him multi-dimensional because I think it reflects real life rather than fiction. People can be so many things at once!

Anyway… I think I’m going to start writing my essay now to get a head start. I’m definitely going to mention how art plays a big part in my life (as well as comics). Maybe I should mention my character Mr. Maxwell…
